  • 1 French baguette or Italian bread loaf
  • 8 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 6 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Sliced tomatoes (optional)
  • Fresh lettuce leaves (optional)
  • Pickled jalapeños (optional)
  • Red onion slices (optional)
  • Avocado slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Pound chicken breasts to even thickness and season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet and cook chicken 5–6 minutes per side. Let rest, then slice thinly.
  4. Cut the bread in half lengthwise. Mix butter, garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and Parmesan in a bowl.
  5. Spread garlic butter on both bread halves. Bake butter-side up for 8–10 minutes until golden.
  6. Mix mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard, honey, garlic, and oregano for the sauce. Set aside.
  7. Place cheese slices on bottom half of hot bread to melt. Spread sauce on top half.
  8. Layer chicken over melted cheese. Add optional toppings like tomato, lettuce, or avocado.
  9. Close sandwich, slice, and serve warm. For extra crispiness, wrap in foil and bake another 3–5 minutes.
