Ingredients

- 100 g butter
- 90 g sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
- 1 tbsp honey (or Ljus Sirap/golden syrup)
- 1 tbsp light syrup (omit if using honey only)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 150 g all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (356°F).
- Mix the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add vanilla sugar (or extract), honey (or syrup), baking powder, and flour. Blend well.
- Divide dough into 3 equal parts.
- Roll each portion into logs and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each roll.
- Gently flatten the rolls with your fingers.
- Bake for 12–14 minutes until golden.
- While still warm, slice the baked rolls diagonally into cookie strips.
- Let cool completely before serving.
Notes
- These cookies are traditionally made with Ljus Sirap (Swedish golden syrup) but can be made with honey for a different flavor.
- The cookie logs are sliced diagonally while still warm to create their signature shape.
