Description
Irresistible Crab Bombs are delightful, flavorful bites made with succulent crab meat, creamy cheeses, and a crispy coating. They are perfect for gatherings or a cozy night in, offering a taste of seafood perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 pound lump crab meat, picked over for shells
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, green onions, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the crab mixture into bite-sized balls, about 1 inch in diameter. These are your crab bomb appetizers.
- Set up a dredging station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with the beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs.
- Roll each crab bomb first in flour, then dip in the egg, and finally coat thoroughly with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed skillet or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry the crab bombs in batches, without overcrowding the skillet, for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and heated through.
- Remove the fried crab bombs with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Serve your irresistible crab bombs warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For an extra kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the crab mixture.
- You can bake these crab bombs at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, for a healthier option.
- These crab bomb appetizers can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before frying.
