Description

Experience the irresistible taste of Honey Butter Alabama bread, a tender and moist cake with a sweet honey butter glaze and crunchy Alabama pecans. This recipe is easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Bread:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups Alabama pecans, roughly chopped
  • For the Honey Butter Glaze:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream or milk
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/2 cup extra chopped pecans
  • Honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, honey, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Gently fold in the chopped Alabama pecans.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the bread is baking, prepare the honey butter glaze. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the honey, salt, and heavy cream or milk until smooth.
  9. Once the bread is out of the oven, let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  10. While still warm, brush the honey butter glaze generously over the top of the bread.
  11. Sprinkle with extra chopped pecans and drizzle with additional honey, if desired.
  12. Let the bread cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Using room temperature eggs helps create a better texture.
  • For an even richer flavor, use dark brown sugar.
  • If you cannot find Alabama pecans, any good quality pecans will work.
  • The honey butter glaze can also be made ahead and gently reheated.
